1. Blind flanges are used to seal off the ends of piping, valves and pressure vessel openings. Blind flanges are most suitable for high pressure and temperature applications.
2. Lap Joint flanges are used in conjunction with either a stub end or Taft. This type of flange is used in low-pressure applications and where the section of piping systems need to be dismantled easily for inspection or replacement.
3. Ring-Type Joint flanges are useful in high-pressure applications to curb leakage. These flanges have a unique channel that can be compressed onto a Slip-On, Blind or Weld Neck flange. It further allows the pipe to withstand extreme pressure and temperature.
4. Slip-On flanges are slipped over the pipe and settled by welding at both top and base side of the flange. After slipping on, they are then also fillet welded. The two types of slip-on flanges are the ring and hub flanges, differing by size specifications. Slip-on flanges are the least expensive, that’s why prefered over weld neck flanges. 
5. Socket Weld flanges are used in high pressure such as hydraulics and steam lines. The pipe is inserted into the socket and fillet welded at the top, allowing for a smoother fluid and gas flow through the pipeline. 
6. Threaded Pipe flanges are Used in exceptional circumstances; the threaded flange can be attached to the pipe without being welded. These are usually positioned on pipes with a deep wall thickness, used to create the internal thread.
7. Weld neck flanges are expensive because of its long neck. These are the most commonly used flange types and suitable for high-pressure applications. These flanges create a smooth weld, matching the thickness and bevel of the pipe.
